The Lady Raiders had some difficulties last week as district play continues. Rice has been having those same difficulties all district season as they have yet to get their first district win of the season. After a difficult offensive performance in the first game of the week against Edna, the Lady Raiders got a better performance against Industrial despite still falling in a big deficit.

Vs Edna, L, 70-15

The Lady Raiders could not keep their game against Edna competitive at any point of the game. They started off with a rough first half, scoring just six points as the Cowgirls ran out to a 42-6 lead after a huge 26-point first quarter. Rice had slightly more success in the third quarter, doubling their score with a six-point effort in the period. However, they followed with another poor-shooting period in the fourth to fall to the big defeat.

Tatianna Mills led the Lady Raiders with six points followed by Beautifu l Johnson, Aleah Conejo, Lacie Bogan and Tricelle Fields who each scored at least one point for the offense.

Vs Industrial, L, 49-28 Rice had a much better outing during Friday’s game against Industrial as their offense increased its potency. They were able to scored eight points in the second quarter and even outscored their opponents in a big final period, in which the Lady Raiders scored into double figures. However, they could not make up for a five-point first quarter or their two-point third quarter to keep the game close. Industrial was able to reach double digits in every quarter but the final frame as they cruised to a big win over Rice.

The Raiders offense improved greatly from their game earlier in the week. Tatianna Mills took the charge as the leading scorer, picking up 16 points to help release the Lady Raiders from their offensive slump. Lacie Bogan and Tricelle Fields added five points apiece, and Beautiful Johnson chipped in four points to add to the offensive attack.
