An unidentified person has died in a motorhome fire in the late hours of Wednesday, Oct. 2.
The Colorado County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a call from a person residing on Wilderness Lane in Alleyton who requested a Deputy.
Sergeant B. Melendez was dispatched to conduct a welfare check on the resident who lived in a motorhome on the property.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Melendez observed smoke coming from the motorhome and notified dispatch to send the fire department. Sergeant Melendez attempted to force entry into the motorhome, but it quickly became engulfed, preventing him from doing so.
The Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, extinguished the fire, and located a deceased person inside the motorhome.
Justice of Peace, Pct. 4, Stan Warfield, conducted the inquest and ordered an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
At this time, the Sheriff’s Office has not released information on the deceased.
